افسوس ہے پچھلے دنوں لاہور میں خواجہ عبدالحی صاحب فاروقی داعیٔ اجل کو لبیک کہہ کر رہ گزاے عالمِ جاودانی ہوگئے۔مرحوم بلندپایہ عالم، مفسر اور اسلامیات کے فاضل تھے۔تعلیم کی تکمیل دارالعلوم دیوبند میں کی تھی۔عرصۂ دراز تک جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ دہلی میں شیخ التفسیر رہے۔تقسیم کے بعد پاکستان منتقل ہوکر اسلامیہ کالج لاہور میں صدر شعبۂ علوم اسلامیہ ہوگئے تھے۔طبعاً کم سخن اور مرنج و مرنجان مگر بڑے خلیق و ملنسار تھے،اﷲ تعالیٰ رحمت وبخشش کی نعمتوں سے نوازے۔ [مارچ ۱۹۶۵ء]

حضرت امام ابو حنیفہ کے علمی اسفار

Born to a Muslim family in Kufa, Abu Hanifah (RH) is known to have travelled to the Hejaz region of Arabia in his youth, where he studied under the most renowned teachers of Makkah and Medina. Due to his wisdom and knowledge, he is also considered a renowned Islamic scholar. A question arises that why he has a distinguished name in Islamic history. Firstly, he travelled a lot for the sake of knowledge. He started to travel since 94 A.H but from 104 A.H, he had a consistent travelling to quench his thirst for knowledge. Secondly, he did hi level best to spread this knowledge to others. Even he had devoted his complete life for the sake of it. Amongst Imam Abu Hanifah's teachers was Hammad ibn Sulayman, he joined his circle at the age of 22, having already become a well-known debater and studied with this great teacher until the latter's death, where upon he took over his ‘’majlis’’ (circle) at the age of forty. Many well-known scholars admire and praise Imam Abu Hanifah’s services like Imam as-Shafi (RH) is recorded to have stated: "All men of fiqh are Abu Hanifah's children, " ".I would not have acquired anything of knowledge had it not been for my teacher”.

Variance Estimation in Sampling Theory Using Multi-Auxiliary Variables

This dissertation is one of the steps towards the area of estimation of population variance using multi-auxiliary variables under multi-phase sampling scheme. This work mainly considers full, incomplete and no information cases about the auxiliary variables. The importance of estimation of finite population variance under multi-phase sampling along with some previously proposed estimators are discussed in Chapter 1. In Chapters 2 and 3, some ratio-type and regression-type variance estimators for estimation of population variance using multi-auxiliary variables for single interest variable are proposed. To the solution of multi-purpose surveys, few generalized multi-variate ratio-type and regression-type variance estimators are discussed in Chapters 4 and 5 respectively. Chapters 6 and 7 highlight the solution to the problem when multi-attributes is to be dealt for the estimation of population variance under multi-phase sampling. The measurement error in variable of interest is taken into account in Chapters 8 and 9 for the same estimators proposed in Chapters 2 and 3. The expressions for minimum mean square error for all proposed estimators are also derived. Some real data sets are used for efficiency comparison.
